Therapeutic Indications
  • Acute promyelocytic leukaemia with PML-RARA, in combination with tretinoin

Mechanism of Action

Arsenic trioxide triggers breakdown of the abnormal PML-RARα fusion protein that drives acute promyelocytic leukaemia. This allows leukaemic promyelocytes to mature and induces their programmed cell death (apoptosis).
