About Bi-Folitic Tablet

Bi-Folitic Tablet combines three biologically active (methylated) B-vitamins: Biotin 5 mg, Methylcobalamin 1500 mcg and L-Methylfolate 1 mg. Unlike folic acid and cyanocobalamin (which require enzymatic conversion to the active forms), these methylated forms are immediately bioavailable — beneficial for patients with MTHFR gene polymorphisms (common in Indian populations) that reduce folate metabolism efficiency.

Clinically, Bi-Folitic is used in hair fall, brittle nails, hyperhomocysteinaemia, peripheral neuropathy, methylation defects and pre-conception folate supplementation. The combination supports DNA synthesis, neurotransmitter formation and myelin integrity — all of which depend on functional one-carbon (methylation) metabolism.

Bi-Folitic is manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP and FSSAI compliant conditions. Available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and third-party manufacturing — a high-margin specialty SKU.

Indications

  • Hair fall, brittle nails and biotin deficiency
  • Hyperhomocysteinaemia and methylation defects
  • Peripheral neuropathy (with diabetes or B12 deficiency)
  • Pre-conception and early pregnancy folate supplementation
  • MTHFR polymorphism-associated reduced folate metabolism
  • Adjunct in depression with high homocysteine

Mechanism of Action

L-Methylfolate is the bioactive form of folate that crosses the blood-brain barrier and serves as methyl donor for neurotransmitter and DNA methylation. Methylcobalamin is the active form of B12 that regenerates methionine from homocysteine. Biotin is a cofactor for carboxylase enzymes in fatty acid synthesis and metabolism, critical for hair keratin and nail formation.

Dosage & Administration

Adults: 1 tablet once daily, preferably after a meal, or as directed by a physician. Long-term continuation in chronic deficiency or pre-conception planning.

Side Effects

Generally well tolerated. Possible mild GI upset, headache. Biotin at very high doses can interfere with biotin-based lab assays (e.g., thyroid, troponin) — inform your lab if testing. Rare hypersensitivity.

Contraindications & Precautions

Hypersensitivity to any component. Caution with concomitant anticonvulsants (folate may reduce levels of some). Pernicious anaemia (use injectable B12 if oral inadequate).

Storage

Store below 30 °C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bi-Folitic Tablet used for?

Bi-Folitic supplies the active forms of three B-vitamins — Biotin, Methylcobalamin and L-Methylfolate — for hair fall, peripheral neuropathy, hyperhomocysteinaemia, pre-conception folate and methylation support.

Why methylated B-vitamins?

Around 30–50% of people have MTHFR gene variants that reduce folate metabolism. Methylated forms bypass this step and are immediately bioavailable, particularly valuable in pre-conception care and methylation defects.

Is Bi-Folitic available for PCD pharma franchise?

Yes, Trumac Healthcare offers Bi-Folitic on monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and for third-party manufacturing.

How should Bi-Folitic Tablet be stored?

Store below 30 °C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.

Is Bi-Folitic WHO-GMP certified?

Yes, manufactured in WHO-GMP and FSSAI compliant facilities.
