About Metoron-12.5 Tablet
Metoron-12.5 Tablet contains Metoprolol Succinate 12.5 mg in extended-release formulation. Metoprolol Succinate ER is the starter dose for heart-failure-with-reduced-ejection-fraction (HFrEF) and provides once-daily smooth beta-1 cardioselective blockade.
Indicated for chronic heart failure (titration from 12.5 mg, doubling every 2 weeks per MERIT-HF protocol), hypertension, stable angina, post-MI cardioprotection and certain arrhythmias.

Mechanism of Action
Metoprolol is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic antagonist that competitively blocks beta-1 receptors in the myocardium, slowing heart rate, reducing contractility, lowering myocardial oxygen demand and antagonising sympathetic neurohormonal activation in heart failure. The succinate salt with extended-release matrix gives once-daily dosing and smoother plasma curve than tartrate.
