About Moxirut-400 Tablet
Moxirut-400 Tablet contains Moxifloxacin 400 mg — a respiratory fluoroquinolone with enhanced activity against Streptococcus pneumoniae, atypical pathogens, and anaerobes. Once-daily dosing with excellent oral bioavailability.
Reserved for community-acquired pneumonia, complicated skin/soft-tissue infections, and intra-abdominal infections.

- Community-acquired pneumonia

Mechanism of Action
Moxifloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV — blocking DNA replication and transcription. Bactericidal. Enhanced gram-positive and anaerobic activity vs older fluoroquinolones.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 400 mg once daily for 5–14 days based on infection.
Side Effects
GI upset, headache, dizziness, QT prolongation, tendon rupture (rare, especially elderly on steroids), C. difficile colitis, hypoglycaemia/hyperglycaemia.
Contraindications & Precautions
Children below 18, pregnancy, lactation, history of FQ tendinopathy, severe hepatic impairment, prolonged QT, on QT-prolonging drugs.
