About Cefob-CV 500 Tablet (Akums Pack)
Cefob-CV 500 (Akums Pack) is the institutional / Akums supply-chain variant of Cefuroxime 500 mg + Clavulanic Acid 125 mg — same active formulation as standard Cefob-CV 500, packaged for hospital pharmacies, government tenders and bulk institutional use.
All indications, dosing and safety considerations are identical to standard Cefob-CV 500. Used for severe bacterial infections requiring both extended cephalosporin spectrum and beta-lactamase inhibition.
Cefob-CV 500 (Akums Pack) is manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP conditions. Available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise, government tenders and third-party manufacturing.
Indications
- Hospital pharmacy supply
- Government tender supplies
- Same indications as standard Cefob-CV 500
Mechanism of Action
Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin that binds penicillin-binding proteins, inhibiting peptidoglycan cross-linking and producing bacterial cell wall destabilisation. Compared with first-generation cephalosporins, cefuroxime has enhanced gram-negative activity (H. influenzae, M. catarrhalis, E. coli) plus retained gram-positive coverage. Clavulanate inhibits beta-lactamases.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 tablet twice daily for 7–14 days with food.
Side Effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, mild skin rash. Rare: pseudomembranous colitis, anaphylaxis, severe skin reactions, transient hepatic enzyme elevation. Cross-reactivity with penicillin allergy (~5–10%). Clavulanate-associated GI upset.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins. Severe penicillin allergy. Caution in renal impairment (dose adjustment). Caution in GI disease. History of cholestatic jaundice with clavulanate.
Storage
Store below 30 °C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.
