Cefob-CV 500 Tablet provides Cefuroxime 500 mg with Clavulanic Acid 125 mg — the high-strength variant for severe bacterial infections requiring both extended cephalosporin spectrum and beta-lactamase inhibition. Used for complicated sinusitis, severe community-acquired pneumonia, complicated skin/soft-tissue infections and infections with prior antibiotic exposure.
Combining the higher 500 mg cefuroxime dose with the standard 125 mg clavulanate maintains the enzyme inhibition while doubling the antibiotic concentration in tissues — particularly valuable in deep-seated or complicated infections.

Mechanism of Action
Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin that binds penicillin-binding proteins, inhibiting peptidoglycan cross-linking and producing bacterial cell wall destabilisation. Compared with first-generation cephalosporins, cefuroxime has enhanced gram-negative activity (H. influenzae, M. catarrhalis, E. coli) plus retained gram-positive coverage. Clavulanate inhibits beta-lactamases to restore activity against resistant strains.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 tablet twice daily for 7–14 days. Take with food.
Side Effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, mild skin rash. Rare: pseudomembranous colitis, anaphylaxis, severe skin reactions, transient hepatic enzyme elevation. Cross-reactivity with penicillin allergy (~5–10%). Increased GI upset and diarrhoea (clavulanate).

Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins. Severe penicillin allergy. Caution in renal impairment (dose adjustment). Caution in GI disease. History of cholestatic jaundice with clavulanate.
