About Cefob-CV 250 Tablet
Cefob-CV 250 Tablet provides Cefuroxime 250 mg with Clavulanic Acid 125 mg for adult bacterial infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing organisms. The combination is particularly used for sinusitis, otitis media, lower respiratory tract infections and skin/soft-tissue infections in patients with recent antibiotic exposure or in regions with high beta-lactamase prevalence.
The 250 mg cefuroxime + 125 mg clavulanate ratio provides effective enzyme inhibition while keeping the clavulanate dose at the highest tolerated level (above which GI side effects increase significantly).

Mechanism of Action
Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin that binds penicillin-binding proteins, inhibiting peptidoglycan cross-linking and producing bacterial cell wall destabilisation. Compared with first-generation cephalosporins, cefuroxime has enhanced gram-negative activity (H. influenzae, M. catarrhalis, E. coli) plus retained gram-positive coverage. Clavulanic acid is a suicide-substrate beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects cefuroxime from enzymatic destruction.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 tablet twice daily for 7–10 days. Take with food.
Side Effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, mild skin rash. Rare: pseudomembranous colitis, anaphylaxis, severe skin reactions, transient hepatic enzyme elevation. Cross-reactivity with penicillin allergy (~5–10%). Increased GI upset and diarrhoea due to clavulanate.

Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins. Severe penicillin allergy. Caution in renal impairment (dose adjustment). Caution in GI disease. History of cholestatic jaundice with clavulanate.
