About Ofzac-200 LB Tablet
Ofzac-200 LB Tablet adds Lactobacillus probiotic to Ofloxacin 200 mg — reducing antibiotic-associated diarrhoea, particularly valuable in elderly and patients with prior antibiotic-related GI upset.

Indications
- Bacterial diarrhoea / shigellosis
- Typhoid (with restoration of gut flora)
- UTI in patients prone to AAD
Mechanism of Action
Ofloxacin is a second-generation fluoroquinolone — inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV blocking DNA replication. Active against gram-negative aerobes, atypicals (Chlamydia, Mycoplasma), and many gram-positives. Excellent oral bioavailability (~95%). Lactobacillus spores recolonise gut commensals during antibiotic therapy.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 tablet twice daily.
Side Effects
GI upset, headache, dizziness, photosensitivity, tendon rupture (rare), QT prolongation, peripheral neuropathy, dysglycaemia.
Contraindications & Precautions
Children below 18, pregnancy, lactation, history of FQ tendinopathy, severe hepatic impairment, prolonged QT.
