About Maclax Tablet
Maclax Tablet contains Sodium Picosulphate 5 mg — a triarylmethane stimulant laxative activated by colonic bacteria. Onset 6–12 hours making it suitable for bedtime dosing with morning effect. Lower abdominal cramping than senna.

Mechanism of Action
Sodium Picosulphate is a prodrug activated by colonic bacterial sulfatases to its active diphenol form (BHPM) — stimulating myenteric plexus directly and inhibiting colonic water absorption.

Adults: 5–10 mg at bedtime. Children >4 years: 2.5 mg.

Abdominal cramps, electrolyte loss with prolonged use, hypokalaemia.
Contraindications & Precautions
Bowel obstruction, faecal impaction, severe dehydration, severe abdominal pain.
