About Fosumac Sachet
Fosumac Sachet delivers Fosfomycin Trometamol 3 g as a single oral dose — the WHO-recommended first-line therapy for uncomplicated lower UTI in women. Unique single-dose convenience compared with 3–5 day Nitrofurantoin or Trimethoprim courses.
Fosfomycin retains activity against ESBL-producing E. coli and many fluoroquinolone-resistant strains, making it particularly valuable in the era of antibiotic resistance. Dissolve granules in half glass of water, take on empty stomach at bedtime after voiding.

Mechanism of Action
Fosfomycin inhibits the first step of bacterial cell wall synthesis by inhibiting MurA (UDP-N-acetylglucosamine enolpyruvyl transferase). Concentrates in urine to bactericidal levels for up to 80 hours after a single 3 g dose.
Dosage & Administration
Single 3 g sachet dissolved in half glass of water on empty stomach at bedtime after voiding. May repeat in 24 hours for severe cases.
Side Effects
Mild GI upset, diarrhoea, headache, vaginitis. Generally very well tolerated.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity. Severe renal impairment (CrCl < 10 ml/min). Children below 12 years.
