About Lacomind-100 Tablet
Lacomind-100 Tablet contains Lacosamide 100 mg — a newer anti-epileptic with unique slow-inactivation sodium channel modulation. Approved as monotherapy and adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures with or without secondary generalisation.
Lower drug interaction profile than older AEDs (Phenytoin, Carbamazepine). Linear pharmacokinetics. Suitable for elderly and patients on multiple medications.

Indications
- Partial-onset seizures (monotherapy)

Mechanism of Action
Lacosamide selectively enhances slow inactivation of voltage-gated sodium channels — stabilising hyperexcitable neuronal membranes without affecting fast inactivation (mechanism distinct from Phenytoin/Carbamazepine). Also modulates CRMP-2 protein.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 50 mg twice daily, increase weekly to 100–200 mg twice daily (max 400 mg/day).
Side Effects
Dizziness, headache, diplopia, nausea, ataxia. PR-interval prolongation (monitor in cardiac disease).

Second/third-degree AV block, severe hepatic impairment, hypersensitivity.
