About Loramac Tablet

Loramac Tablet provides Loratadine 10 mg — a long-acting non-sedating H1 antihistamine for allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria. Among the least sedating second-generation antihistamines, particularly suitable for drivers and operators of heavy machinery.

Once-daily dosing with onset 1–3 hours and duration 24 hours.

Manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP. Available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and third-party manufacturing.

Indications

  • Allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial)
  • Chronic idiopathic urticaria
  • Allergic conjunctivitis
  • Atopic dermatitis pruritus

Mechanism of Action

Loratadine selectively binds peripheral H1 receptors — blocking histamine-mediated allergic responses (vasodilation, increased capillary permeability, smooth muscle contraction). Minimal CNS penetration due to active P-glycoprotein efflux at BBB.

Dosage & Administration

Adults and children >6 years: 10 mg once daily.

Side Effects

Headache, somnolence (minimal), dry mouth, fatigue.

Contraindications & Precautions

Hypersensitivity, severe hepatic impairment, pregnancy (use only if benefit outweighs risk).
