Mechanism of Action
N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) is a mucolytic and glutathione precursor — its thiol group disrupts disulfide bonds in mucus glycoproteins (mucolytic effect) and provides cysteine for hepatic glutathione synthesis (antioxidant effect).
