About Ofzac-RC Suspension
Ofzac-RC Suspension combines Ofloxacin with Racecadotril — bacterial coverage plus anti-secretory action. Particularly useful in cholera-like watery diarrhoea where rapid reduction in stool output needed without anti-motility effects.

Mechanism of Action
Ofloxacin is a second-generation fluoroquinolone — inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV blocking DNA replication. Active against gram-negative aerobes, atypicals (Chlamydia, Mycoplasma), and many gram-positives. Excellent oral bioavailability (~95%). Racecadotril (enkephalinase inhibitor) reduces intestinal water/electrolyte secretion without affecting motility — safer than Loperamide in infective diarrhoea.
Dosage & Administration
Children: 5–10 ml twice daily.
Side Effects
GI upset, headache, dizziness, photosensitivity, tendon rupture (rare), QT prolongation, peripheral neuropathy, dysglycaemia.
Contraindications & Precautions
Children below 18, pregnancy, lactation, history of FQ tendinopathy, severe hepatic impairment, prolonged QT.
