Mechanism of Action
Quetiapine is an atypical antipsychotic — antagonises multiple receptors including 5-HT2A (predominantly), D2, H1, alpha-1 adrenergic. Sedating at lower doses (mostly H1 effect), antipsychotic at higher doses (D2 antagonism). Approved for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder (both mania and depression), and adjunct in MDD.
