Zirom-250 LB Tablet adds Lactobacillus probiotic to Azithromycin — reducing antibiotic-associated diarrhoea.

Mechanism of Action
Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic (azalide subclass) — binds 50S ribosome inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. Long tissue half-life allowing 3-day courses. Active against atypicals (Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Legionella), gram-positives, H. influenzae. Lactic Acid Bacillus restores gut microbiota disrupted by antibiotic therapy.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 500 mg day 1, then 250 mg days 2–5.
Side Effects
GI upset, diarrhoea, hepatotoxicity (rare), QT prolongation, C. difficile colitis.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity to macrolides, severe hepatic disease, prolonged QT.
