Mechanism of Action
Amlodipine is a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker — causes peripheral arterial vasodilation. Once-daily dosing, 24-hour BP control. Standard antihypertensive. Metoprolol is cardioselective beta-1 blocker.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 tablet once daily.
Side Effects
Peripheral oedema (dose-related), flushing, headache, dizziness, gum hyperplasia (rare). Bradycardia, fatigue (Metoprolol).
Contraindications & Precautions
Severe hypotension, severe aortic stenosis, cardiogenic shock. Severe bradycardia, decompensated HF.
