Dapacam-M 5/500 Tablet combines Dapagliflozin 5 + Metformin 500 ER — dual therapy for Type 2 DM with cardiovascular benefits.

Mechanism of Action
Dapagliflozin is a selective SGLT2 inhibitor — blocks renal glucose reabsorption causing glucosuria. Beyond glycaemic control: reduces CV death and HF hospitalisation (DAPA-HF trial), preserves renal function (DAPA-CKD). Now recommended for HFrEF and CKD regardless of diabetes. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose output and improves insulin sensitivity.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 tablet once or twice daily with meals.
Side Effects
Genital mycotic infections, UTI, polyuria, hypovolaemia, euglycaemic DKA (rare). GI upset (Metformin).
Contraindications & Precautions
Type 1 diabetes, severe renal impairment (eGFR <25 ml/min for diabetes; lower for HF/CKD), recurrent UTI/genital infections, dialysis. eGFR <30 ml/min, lactic acidosis history.
