About Macral-CT Shampoo
Macral-CT Shampoo combines Ketoconazole 2% w/v with Coal Tar 2% w/v in a medicated cleansing shampoo. The dual action targets both Malassezia (fungal) component and the keratin/inflammatory component of scalp psoriasis and severe seborrhoeic dermatitis.
Indicated for scalp psoriasis, severe seborrhoeic dermatitis with thick scaling, recalcitrant dandruff and pruritic scalp dermatitis.

Mechanism of Action
Ketoconazole inhibits fungal 14-α-demethylase, blocking conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol. The resulting depletion of ergosterol and accumulation of toxic sterol intermediates disrupts fungal cell membrane integrity, producing fungistatic and fungicidal effect. Particularly active against Malassezia (seborrhoeic dermatitis, tinea versicolor) and dermatophytes. Coal Tar is a complex distillate with keratolytic, antipruritic and antimitotic effects on hyperproliferating epidermis — long-established for scalp psoriasis and severe seborrhoea.
