About Bilastic-M Tablet
Bilastic-M Tablet combines the adult-strength antihistamine Bilastine 20 mg with the leukotriene receptor antagonist Montelukast 10 mg in a once-daily oral tablet. It is widely prescribed for adults with concurrent allergic rhinitis and mild persistent asthma — a phenotype that accounts for the majority of chronic respiratory allergy in Indian outpatient practice.
Targeting both histamine-driven rhinitis and leukotriene-driven bronchoconstriction in a single dose improves symptom control, reduces medication burden and improves adherence. International ARIA and GINA guidelines support combined H1-antihistamine + leukotriene antagonist therapy in patients with both rhinitis and asthma.

Mechanism of Action
Bilastine selectively blocks peripheral H1 histamine receptors. Montelukast competitively antagonises the CysLT1 leukotriene receptor on airway smooth muscle and inflammatory cells, preventing leukotriene-mediated bronchoconstriction and mucosal oedema.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 tablet once daily in the evening, one hour before or two hours after food.
Side Effects
Headache, low rate of somnolence, dizziness, GI upset, behavioural changes (Montelukast). Rare: hypersensitivity, hepatic enzyme elevation.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity. Acute severe asthma (not rescue). Severe hepatic impairment. History of neuropsychiatric disorder (Montelukast caution).
