About Budemide-Forte Respules
Budemide-Forte Respules contain Budesonide IP 1 mg in 2 ml — the higher-strength inhaled corticosteroid respule for nebulisation therapy. The 1 mg dose is used in severe persistent asthma, acute asthma exacerbations and moderate-to-severe croup where the standard 0.5 mg dose is inadequate.
Like all Budesonide respules, Budemide-Forte acts locally on airway mucosa to reduce inflammation, mucosal oedema and bronchial hyperreactivity. The higher 1 mg dose provides stronger anti-inflammatory action while maintaining the favourable systemic safety profile of inhaled corticosteroids due to rapid hepatic first-pass metabolism.
Budemide-Forte is manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP conditions. Available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and third-party manufacturing — a high-volume respiratory SKU.
Indications
- Severe persistent asthma maintenance therapy
- Acute asthma exacerbation (adjunct to bronchodilator and systemic steroid)
- Moderate-to-severe croup (laryngotracheobronchitis)
- Step-up therapy from Budemide-0.5
- Allergic bronchitis with prominent inflammation
Mechanism of Action
Budesonide binds intracellular glucocorticoid receptors in airway epithelial and inflammatory cells, modulating gene transcription to suppress pro-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines and COX-2 expression. The higher 1 mg dose achieves greater receptor occupancy for stronger anti-inflammatory action in severe asthma.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 respule (1 mg) twice daily, by nebulisation. Children > 6 months: 0.5–1 mg twice daily. Rinse mouth after use. To be prescribed by a physician.
Side Effects
Oral candidiasis (rinse mouth after use), dysphonia, throat irritation. Possible systemic effects with prolonged high-dose use: adrenal suppression, growth retardation in children, decreased bone density.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity to Budesonide. Active untreated respiratory tract infection. Severe paradoxical bronchospasm. Hypersensitivity to milk proteins (some formulations).
Storage
Store below 25 °C, protected from light. Use immediately after opening foil.
