About Amrocip-250 Tablet

Amrocip-250 Tablet contains Ciprofloxacin 250 mg, a second-generation fluoroquinolone with broad-spectrum activity against gram-negative and many gram-positive bacteria. The 250 mg strength is commonly used for uncomplicated urinary tract infections, lower-respiratory infections and bacterial diarrhoea in adults.

Ciprofloxacin’s activity against Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Haemophilus, Moraxella, and atypical pathogens makes it valuable in mixed-flora and gram-negative-suspected infections. It also penetrates well into prostate tissue, making it a first-line option for bacterial prostatitis.

Amrocip-250 is manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP conditions and is available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and third-party manufacturing — a high-volume antibiotic SKU across multiple specialties.

Indications

  • Uncomplicated urinary tract infections
  • Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
  • Bacterial sinusitis and pharyngitis
  • Bacterial gastroenteritis (traveller's diarrhoea, shigellosis)
  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Adjunct in bacterial prostatitis
  • Prophylaxis in surgical and dental procedures

Mechanism of Action

Ciprofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are essential for bacterial DNA replication, repair, recombination and transcription. By preventing supercoiling and decatenation of bacterial DNA, ciprofloxacin produces rapid bactericidal action — concentration-dependent killing with a long post-antibiotic effect.

Dosage & Administration

Adults: 250–500 mg twice daily for 5–7 days (uncomplicated UTI may need only 3 days). Adjust dose in renal impairment. Take with adequate fluids; avoid simultaneous antacids, iron, calcium, dairy.
