About Amrocip-250 Tablet
Amrocip-250 Tablet contains Ciprofloxacin 250 mg, a second-generation fluoroquinolone with broad-spectrum activity against gram-negative and many gram-positive bacteria. The 250 mg strength is commonly used for uncomplicated urinary tract infections, lower-respiratory infections and bacterial diarrhoea in adults.

Mechanism of Action
Ciprofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are essential for bacterial DNA replication, repair, recombination and transcription. By preventing supercoiling and decatenation of bacterial DNA, ciprofloxacin produces rapid bactericidal action — concentration-dependent killing with a long post-antibiotic effect.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 250–500 mg twice daily for 5–7 days (uncomplicated UTI may need only 3 days). Adjust dose in renal impairment. Take with adequate fluids; avoid simultaneous antacids, iron, calcium, dairy.
Side Effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness, abnormal taste. Important class effects: tendinopathy and tendon rupture (especially Achilles), QT prolongation, peripheral neuropathy, CNS effects (insomnia, anxiety). Photosensitivity. Hypoglycaemia in diabetics on sulphonylureas.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity to quinolones. Children/adolescents (cartilage toxicity in growth plates) — except specific indications. Pregnancy and lactation. Tendon disorder history with quinolones. Concomitant tizanidine (severe interaction). Caution with QT-prolonging drugs, antidiabetics, and in epilepsy.
