About Cofar-LC Syrup (100ml)
Cofar-LC Syrup combines Chlorpheniramine Maleate with Levodropropizine — a uniquely peripheral cough suppressant that acts on cough receptors in the respiratory tract rather than the central cough centre. This gives Levodropropizine the unique advantage of not causing sedation or central respiratory depression.
Levodropropizine is particularly preferred when central cough suppressants (like Dextromethorphan) are contraindicated — in patients on other CNS-acting drugs, elderly patients, or those who cannot tolerate sedation. Used for non-productive cough across all age groups.
Cofar-LC is manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP conditions. Available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and third-party manufacturing.
Indications
- Non-productive (dry) cough in patients needing minimal sedation
- Cough in elderly patients
- Cough in patients on CNS-acting medications
- Allergic cough
- Post-viral persistent cough
Mechanism of Action
Levodropropizine peripherally inhibits cough reflex by acting on stretch receptors in the tracheobronchial mucosa — no central action, no sedation, no respiratory depression. CPM provides antihistamine action for allergic component.
