About Iromac-FCM 1000 Injection
Iromac-FCM 1000 Injection delivers Ferric Carboxymaltose 1000 mg elemental iron in a single infusion — bypassing oral iron limitations. Total replacement dose typically achievable in 1–2 infusions vs 12+ weeks of oral therapy.
Particularly valuable in severe IDA, intolerance to oral iron, malabsorption (IBD), post-bariatric surgery, and chronic kidney disease anaemia.
Manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP. Available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and third-party manufacturing.
Indications
- Severe iron deficiency anaemia
- Iron deficiency unresponsive to oral iron
- Inflammatory bowel disease related IDA
- Post-partum anaemia
- Chronic kidney disease anaemia
- Pre-operative anaemia optimisation
Mechanism of Action
Ferric Carboxymaltose is a polynuclear iron(III)-hydroxide complex with carboxymaltose ligand — allowing controlled release of bioavailable iron without free iron toxicity. Delivers up to 1000 mg elemental iron in a single 15-minute IV infusion, unlike iron sucrose which requires multiple smaller doses.
Dosage & Administration
Single dose up to 1000 mg slow IV infusion over 15 minutes in 100 ml normal saline. Repeat after 1 week if total dose >1000 mg required.
Side Effects
Transient hypophosphataemia, headache, nausea, injection-site reactions. Rare anaphylactoid reactions.
Contraindications & Precautions
Iron overload, anaemia not due to iron deficiency, first trimester pregnancy, severe hypersensitivity to iron preparations.
Storage
Store between 2–25 °C, protect from light. Do not freeze.
