About Macral-S Lotion
Macral-S Lotion combines Ketoconazole 2% with Salicylic Acid 2% in a fluid lotion vehicle. The keratolytic action of salicylic acid removes scale buildup and improves ketoconazole penetration.
Indicated for hyperkeratotic seborrhoeic dermatitis, severe tinea versicolor with scaling, and Malassezia-driven follicular pustular disorders.

Mechanism of Action
Ketoconazole inhibits fungal 14-α-demethylase, blocking conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol. The resulting depletion of ergosterol and accumulation of toxic sterol intermediates disrupts fungal cell membrane integrity, producing fungistatic and fungicidal effect. Particularly active against Malassezia (seborrhoeic dermatitis, tinea versicolor) and dermatophytes. Salicylic Acid is a beta-hydroxy keratolytic that dissolves the intercellular cement of the stratum corneum, removing scale and improving penetration of ketoconazole.
