About Lamorise-100 Tablet
Lamorise-100 Tablet provides Lamotrigine 100 mg — a broad-spectrum AED also indicated for bipolar depression maintenance. Standard maintenance dose after slow titration (rapid titration risks Stevens-Johnson syndrome).
Particularly valuable in women of childbearing age — fewer foetal malformations vs Valproate, no contraceptive interaction vs Carbamazepine.

Indications
- Partial and generalised tonic-clonic seizures

Mechanism of Action
Lamotrigine blocks voltage-gated sodium channels in a use-dependent manner — stabilising hyperexcitable neuronal membranes. Inhibits release of glutamate and aspartate (excitatory neurotransmitters).
Dosage & Administration
Adults: Slow titration mandatory — start 25 mg daily x 2 weeks, then 50 mg daily x 2 weeks, then increase to 100–200 mg/day. Adjust for valproate co-therapy (slower).
Side Effects
Skin rash (including Stevens-Johnson — discontinue immediately), dizziness, headache, diplopia, ataxia, blood dyscrasias.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity, previous rash on Lamotrigine, severe hepatic impairment.
