About Penarut-TZ Injection

Mechanism of Action
Meropenem is a carbapenem broad-spectrum beta-lactam — binds penicillin-binding proteins (PBP-2 and 3) inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Stable against most beta-lactamases including AmpC and ESBLs. Reserved for severe infections caused by multi-drug-resistant organisms. Tazobactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor extending coverage against some carbapenemases.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 vial every 8 hours.
Side Effects
GI upset, diarrhoea, hypersensitivity, seizures (less than imipenem), thrombocytosis, hepatic enzyme elevation.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity to carbapenems/penicillins (cross-reactivity ~1%), severe CNS disorders (seizure caution).
