About Methowise-5 Tablet
Methowise-5 Tablet provides Methotrexate 5 mg — the starting weekly DMARD dose for rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Standard weekly dose 7.5–25 mg per week.

Mechanism of Action
Methotrexate is a folate antagonist — competitively inhibits dihydrofolate reductase blocking conversion of dihydrofolate to tetrahydrofolate. Reduces nucleic acid synthesis in rapidly dividing cells. In rheumatology used at low weekly doses with anti-inflammatory action; in oncology at higher doses for cytotoxic effect.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 7.5–25 mg ONCE WEEKLY (not daily). Folic Acid 5 mg on non-MTX days reduces toxicity.
Side Effects
GI upset, transaminase elevation, bone marrow suppression, mucositis, alopecia, pulmonary toxicity (rare). Hepatotoxicity with chronic use.

Pregnancy (teratogenic), severe liver/renal disease, alcoholism, bone marrow disorders, active infection, peptic ulcer, hypersensitivity.
