About Muprinep Ointment
Muprinep Ointment contains Mupirocin 2%, a unique topical antibiotic derived from Pseudomonas fluorescens. It has a novel mechanism not shared by systemic antibiotics, making cross-resistance unlikely.
Indicated for impetigo, infected eczema, folliculitis, infected minor wounds, and importantly for nasal decolonisation of MRSA carriers and prevention of surgical-site infection.

Mechanism of Action
Mupirocin reversibly binds bacterial isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, inhibiting isoleucine incorporation into protein synthesis. The unique target means no cross-resistance with systemic antibiotics. Particularly active against Staphylococcus aureus (including MRSA) and beta-haemolytic streptococci.
Dosage & Administration
