About Mucofer-AB Tablet
Mucofer-AB Tablet combines NAC 600 mg with Acebrophylline 100 mg — adding bronchodilation to mucolytic effect. Acebrophylline is a xanthine bronchodilator combined with ambroxol (mucolytic) — providing comprehensive COPD therapy in single tablet.
Manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP. Available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and third-party manufacturing.
Indications
- COPD with thick mucus and bronchospasm
- Chronic bronchitis with airflow limitation
- Bronchial asthma with productive cough
Mechanism of Action
N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) is a mucolytic and glutathione precursor — its thiol group disrupts disulfide bonds in mucus glycoproteins (mucolytic effect) and provides cysteine for hepatic glutathione synthesis (antioxidant effect). Used for thick respiratory mucus, paracetamol overdose (hepatic glutathione restoration), contrast-induced nephropathy prevention, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Acebrophylline is a complex of ambroxol and theophylline-7-acetate — provides combined mucolytic effect (ambroxol component) and PDE-inhibitor bronchodilation (theophylline component).
