About Ofzac-100 Suspension
Ofzac-100 Suspension provides Ofloxacin 100 mg per 5 ml — paediatric strength suspension for typhoid, severe gastroenteritis and selected paediatric infections where FQ use is justified.

Mechanism of Action
Ofloxacin is a second-generation fluoroquinolone — inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV blocking DNA replication. Active against gram-negative aerobes, atypicals (Chlamydia, Mycoplasma), and many gram-positives. Excellent oral bioavailability (~95%).
Dosage & Administration
Children: 7.5–10 mg/kg twice daily. Use only when alternatives unavailable.
Side Effects
GI upset, headache, dizziness, photosensitivity, tendon rupture (rare), QT prolongation, peripheral neuropathy, dysglycaemia. Arthropathy risk in growing children — limit use.
Contraindications & Precautions
Children below 1 year (relative), pregnancy, severe hepatic impairment.
