Mechanism of Action
Tolperisone is a centrally-acting muscle relaxant — sodium channel blocker on spinal and supraspinal reflex pathways. Less sedating than other muscle relaxants (Carisoprodol, Baclofen) — suitable for working patients requiring alertness.Diclofenac is a non-selective COX-1/COX-2 inhibitor NSAID — anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic. Available in multiple forms. Higher CV risk than ibuprofen/naproxen at standard doses.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 tablet 2–3 times daily.
Side Effects
Hypersensitivity reactions (anaphylaxis rare), mild GI upset, dizziness, headache.GI upset, peptic ulcer, fluid retention, hypertension, cardiovascular events, transaminase elevation.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity, myasthenia gravis.Active peptic ulcer, severe heart failure, third trimester pregnancy, severe renal/hepatic impairment, aspirin-sensitive asthma, history of CV disease.
