About Valaxor-500 Tablet
Valaxor-500 Tablet contains Valacyclovir 500 mg — for herpes simplex (oral/genital), herpes zoster (shingles), and HSV suppression in recurrent infections.

Indications
- Herpes labialis (cold sores)

Mechanism of Action
Valacyclovir is the L-valyl ester prodrug of acyclovir — better oral bioavailability (~55% vs 15%). Phosphorylated to acyclovir triphosphate which inhibits viral DNA polymerase. Used for HSV, VZV, and CMV prophylaxis.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: Herpes labialis 2 g twice daily for 1 day. Zoster 1 g three times daily x 7 days.
Side Effects
Headache, nausea, rare TTP/HUS (immunocompromised at high doses), nephrotoxicity.
Contraindications & Precautions
Hypersensitivity to acyclovir, severe renal impairment (dose adjust).
