About Celezone-200 DT Tablet
Celezone-200 DT Tablet contains Celecoxib 200 mg, a COX-2 selective non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is used for the relief of pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute musculoskeletal pain and primary dysmenorrhoea.
Celecoxib’s COX-2 selectivity gives it significantly lower gastrointestinal toxicity compared with non-selective NSAIDs (diclofenac, ibuprofen, naproxen) — making it preferred in patients with peptic ulcer history, elderly patients and those on long-term anti-inflammatory therapy. Cardiovascular risk should be assessed; lowest effective dose for shortest duration is recommended.
Celezone-200 DT is manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP conditions. Available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and third-party manufacturing.
Indications
- Osteoarthritis pain and inflammation
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Acute musculoskeletal pain
- Primary dysmenorrhoea
- Post-operative pain (short-term)
Mechanism of Action
Celecoxib selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), the inducible isoform expressed in inflammatory tissue. By blocking prostaglandin synthesis at sites of inflammation while sparing the gastric mucosa-protective COX-1 isoform, celecoxib produces anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects with significantly less GI toxicity.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: Osteoarthritis 200 mg/day in 1–2 divided doses. RA 100–200 mg twice daily. Acute pain: initial 400 mg then 200 mg as needed. Maximum 400 mg/day for OA, 800 mg/day total. Lowest effective dose for shortest duration.
Side Effects
GI upset (less than non-selective NSAIDs), headache, dizziness, peripheral oedema, hypertension. Cardiovascular risk increase with long-term high-dose use. Rare: serious skin reactions, renal impairment.
Contraindications & Precautions
Sulfa hypersensitivity (celecoxib is a sulfonamide). Active peptic ulcer or GI bleeding. Severe heart failure. Severe hepatic impairment. Severe renal impairment. Pregnancy (third trimester). Aspirin-triggered asthma.
Storage
Store below 30 °C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.
