About Entezen-0.5 Tablet

Entezen-0.5 Tablet contains Entecavir 0.5 mg — a guanosine nucleoside analogue with potent and selective antiviral activity against hepatitis B virus (HBV). First-line therapy for chronic hepatitis B with very high barrier to resistance and rapid viral suppression.

Used for chronic HBV infection in adults and children, including treatment-naive and lamivudine-refractory patients. Long-term therapy typically required.

Mechanism of Action

Entecavir is phosphorylated to its active triphosphate form which inhibits HBV polymerase functions (priming, reverse transcription, DNA-dependent DNA synthesis). Very potent and selective.

Adults: 0.5 mg once daily on empty stomach (≥2 hours before/after meals). Treatment-naive HBV.

Side Effects

Headache, fatigue, dizziness, nausea. Lactic acidosis (rare). Acute exacerbations on discontinuation.

Contraindications & Precautions

Hypersensitivity. Lactic acidosis risk. Severe renal impairment requires dose adjustment.
