About Trucital-5 Tablet
Trucital-5 Tablet contains Escitalopram 5 mg — the most selective SSRI antidepressant (active S-enantiomer of citalopram). Starting dose for elderly, anxiety-sensitive patients, and initial titration.
Escitalopram has fewer drug interactions and better tolerability than racemic citalopram.

Mechanism of Action
Escitalopram is the active S-enantiomer of citalopram — most selective SSRI antidepressant. Selectively inhibits presynaptic serotonin reuptake (SERT) with high affinity. Less drug interactions, lower QT risk than racemic citalopram at standard doses.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 5 mg once daily in morning, titrate up to 10–20 mg after 1 week.
Side Effects
Nausea, insomnia, sexual dysfunction, sweating, somnolence. QT prolongation at high doses (FDA dose cap 20 mg).
Contraindications & Precautions
MAO inhibitor use (within 14 days), pimozide, congenital long QT, severe hepatic impairment.
