About Macral Lotion
Macral Lotion contains Ketoconazole 2% in a fluid lotion vehicle suited for large body areas, scalp seborrhoea and hair-bearing skin.
Indicated for tinea versicolor (especially extensive), seborrhoeic dermatitis of the body, dandruff and Malassezia-driven inflammatory dermatoses.

Mechanism of Action
Ketoconazole inhibits fungal 14-α-demethylase, blocking conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol. The resulting depletion of ergosterol and accumulation of toxic sterol intermediates disrupts fungal cell membrane integrity, producing fungistatic and fungicidal effect. Particularly active against Malassezia (seborrhoeic dermatitis, tinea versicolor) and dermatophytes.
