About Moxirut Eye Ointment
Moxirut Eye Ointment contains Moxifloxacin 0.5% in a sterile petrolatum-based ointment vehicle. The ointment provides extended contact time on the ocular surface, particularly useful for bedtime application alongside daytime eye drops.
Indicated for bacterial conjunctivitis, blepharitis, post-operative ocular surface infection prophylaxis, and adjunctive overnight cover in keratitis.

Mechanism of Action
Moxifloxacin is a 4th-generation fluoroquinolone that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, halting bacterial DNA replication. Its 8-methoxy substitution gives enhanced Gram-positive, atypical and anaerobic coverage with reduced resistance development.
