Mechanism of Action
Moxifloxacin is a 4th-generation fluoroquinolone that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, halting bacterial DNA replication. Its 8-methoxy substitution gives enhanced Gram-positive, atypical and anaerobic coverage with reduced resistance development.
Dosage & Administration
- Eyes: 1 drop every 2 hours for 2 days then 4 times daily for 5 more days
- Ears: 3–4 drops in affected ear 2–3 times daily
- Apply pressure to inner canthus
- Use under medical supervision
