About Spirowise-25 Tablet
Spirowise-25 Tablet contains Spironolactone 25 mg. Spironolactone is a competitive aldosterone receptor antagonist with potassium-sparing diuretic action and additional anti-androgen effect at higher doses.
Indicated for chronic heart failure (RALES trial — mortality benefit), resistant hypertension (PATHWAY-2 trial), primary hyperaldosteronism, cirrhotic ascites and female acne / hirsutism (off-label).

Indications
- Heart failure (NYHA III-IV, on standard therapy)
- Resistant hypertension
- Primary hyperaldosteronism (Conn's)
- Cirrhotic ascites

Mechanism of Action
Spironolactone competitively binds the mineralocorticoid receptor in the distal renal tubule, blocking aldosterone-mediated Na+ retention and K+ excretion. Modest diuretic effect with potassium retention. At higher doses, it also antagonises androgen receptors and inhibits testosterone synthesis.
