Side Effects
- Hypotension (sympathetic block), bradycardia, nausea, post-dural puncture headache.
- Serious: total spinal block, cardiac toxicity at very high systemic doses, respiratory depression.
- Local nerve injury rare.

- Hypersensitivity to amide local anaesthetics.
- Severe hypotension, cardiogenic shock.
- Coagulopathy or anticoagulant therapy (relative).
- Local infection at injection site.
- Severe spinal deformity.
