Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 600 mg every 12 hours orally or IV.
Side Effects
- Thrombocytopenia (with >14 day use, monitor weekly), peripheral and optic neuropathy (prolonged use), lactic acidosis, serotonin syndrome (with SSRIs).
Contraindications
- Concurrent MAO inhibitors, uncontrolled hypertension, pheochromocytoma, carcinoid, thyrotoxicosis.
- Caution with SSRIs, tricyclics, sympathomimetics.
