Suppresses cytokine production, reduces capillary permeability, stabilises lysosomal membranes, blocks leukocyte recruitment. ~5x more potent than hydrocortisone with minimal mineralocorticoid activity.

- Adults: 8–32 mg daily in divided doses or single morning.

- Hyperglycaemia, hypokalaemia, hypertension, fluid retention, immunosuppression, neuropsychiatric effects (insomnia, mood changes), Cushingoid appearance, osteoporosis (long-term), avascular necrosis.
Contraindications
- Systemic fungal infections, live vaccine administration, untreated severe infections.
- Caution in diabetes, hypertension, peptic ulcer, glaucoma, osteoporosis, pregnancy, breastfeeding.
