About RT-Cam 60 Injection

Mechanism of Action
Artesunate is a water-soluble artemisinin derivative — produces toxic free radicals that damage malaria parasite proteins, particularly during early stage. WHO first-line for severe falciparum malaria. Rapid parasite clearance and improved mortality vs quinine in severe malaria.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 2.4 mg/kg IV at 0, 12, 24 hours then once daily. Children: 3 mg/kg.
Side Effects
Generally well tolerated. Rare neurotoxicity at very high doses, mild GI upset, transient transaminase elevation, post-artemisinin delayed haemolysis (PADH).
Contraindications & Precautions
First trimester pregnancy (relative — benefit may outweigh risk in severe malaria), severe hypersensitivity.
