About Ceftru-50 DT Tablet
Ceftru-50 DT Tablet provides Cefpodoxime 50 mg in dispersible tablet format — ideal for young children. The dispersible tablet dissolves rapidly in water for accurate weight-based dosing without requiring liquid preparation.
Cefpodoxime’s broader gram-negative spectrum compared to first or second-generation cephalosporins is particularly useful in paediatric otitis media and sinusitis where H. influenzae and M. catarrhalis dominate.
Ceftru-50 DT is manufactured by Trumac Healthcare under WHO-GMP conditions. Available for monopoly-based PCD pharma franchise and third-party manufacturing.
Indications
- Paediatric acute otitis media
- Acute sinusitis
- Streptococcal pharyngitis
- Uncomplicated UTI
- Skin and soft-tissue infections
Mechanism of Action
Cefpodoxime Proxetil is an oral third-generation cephalosporin prodrug that is hydrolysed in intestinal mucosa to active cefpodoxime. It binds penicillin-binding proteins, inhibiting peptidoglycan cross-linking. Broad spectrum covering gram-negative (H. influenzae, M. catarrhalis, E. coli, Klebsiella) and selected gram-positive (streptococci, MSSA) organisms — including many beta-lactamase-producing strains.
