About Desomac-5 Tablet
Desomac-5 Tablet contains Desloratadine 5 mg, the active metabolite of loratadine and a selective long-acting peripheral H1 antihistamine. Once-daily dosing controls allergic symptoms without crossing the blood-brain barrier.
It is indicated for allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial), chronic idiopathic urticaria, pruritus and other histamine-mediated allergic conditions in adults and adolescents over 12 years.

Mechanism of Action
Desloratadine is the principal active metabolite of loratadine. It selectively antagonises peripheral H1 receptors without significantly crossing the blood-brain barrier — providing 24-hour antihistaminic effect with negligible sedation. It also inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines from mast cells and basophils.
