About Emparon-25 Tablet
Emparon-25 Tablet contains Empagliflozin 25 mg. Empagliflozin is a sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that lowers blood glucose by promoting urinary glucose excretion, independent of insulin.
It is indicated as adjunct to diet and exercise in adults with type-2 diabetes mellitus and provides additional cardiovascular and renal protection benefits demonstrated in major outcome trials (EMPA-REG, EMPEROR).

Indications
- Type-2 diabetes mellitus inadequately controlled by lifestyle measures or other oral agents
- Cardiovascular risk reduction in type-2 DM with established CV disease
- Heart failure with reduced or preserved ejection fraction
- Chronic kidney disease (CKD) protection in diabetic and non-diabetic patients
Mechanism of Action
Empagliflozin selectively inhibits SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubule, reducing glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion (about 70 g/day). The osmotic diuresis also reduces blood pressure and pre-load, contributing to its heart-failure and renoprotective benefits.
