About Glucim-P1 SR Tablet
Glucim-P1 SR Tablet combines three complementary oral antidiabetic agents: Glimepiride 1 mg (sulphonylurea — stimulates insulin secretion), Metformin 500 mg (biguanide — reduces hepatic glucose output) and Pioglitazone 15 mg (thiazolidinedione — improves peripheral insulin sensitivity).
The triple combination is indicated for type-2 diabetes patients with significant insulin resistance who fail dual oral therapy and need glycaemic intensification before insulin.

Mechanism of Action
Glimepiride closes pancreatic beta-cell ATP-sensitive K+ channels, triggering insulin secretion. Metformin activates AMPK, suppressing hepatic gluconeogenesis and improving peripheral glucose utilisation. Pioglitazone is a PPAR-gamma agonist that increases insulin-sensitive gene expression in adipose and muscle tissue.
