About Lactifer Solution
Lactifer Solution provides Lactitol 10 g per 15 ml — a synthetic disaccharide osmotic laxative similar to Lactulose but with less bloating and faster onset. Used for chronic constipation and hepatic encephalopathy.

Mechanism of Action
Lactitol is a synthetic disaccharide alcohol that is not absorbed in the small intestine. Bacterial fermentation in the colon produces lactic and acetic acids — drawing water osmotically into colon (laxative) and trapping ammonia as non-absorbable ammonium (encephalopathy).
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 15–30 ml once or twice daily. Children: 5–15 ml once daily.
Side Effects
Bloating, flatulence (initial), abdominal cramping. Generally well tolerated.

Galactosaemia, bowel obstruction, severe undiagnosed abdominal pain.
