About Levetex-500 Injection
Levetex-500 Injection provides Levetiracetam 500 mg as 5 ml IV concentrate — for status epilepticus, perioperative seizure prophylaxis, and patients unable to take oral medication. Levetiracetam is now established as a first-line IV AED for status epilepticus (per ESETT trial).

Indications

Mechanism of Action
Levetiracetam binds to synaptic vesicle protein SV2A, modulating presynaptic neurotransmitter release. Unique mechanism distinct from older AEDs — no significant CYP450 interactions, linear pharmacokinetics, minimal protein binding. Broad-spectrum AED for partial and primary generalised seizures.
Dosage & Administration
Status epilepticus: 60 mg/kg IV (max 4.5 g) over 15 minutes. Maintenance: 500–1500 mg IV twice daily.
Side Effects
Somnolence, asthenia, dizziness, irritability/behavioural changes (especially children). Rare suicidal ideation. Injection site reaction.

Hypersensitivity, severe renal impairment (dose adjust). Caution in psychiatric history.
